A faculty member since 2004, Oliver Roeger began his career as head of the design department at Hyperstudio, a Swiss interactive agency, where he developed numerous award-winning CD-ROM projects.
Born in Germany, Oliver moved to the United States in 2001. That same year, he joined Rick Valicenti’s design studio, Thirst, where he led the interactive design department. There he focused strongly on interactive design, creating websites and motion graphics for clients including Motorola, Gilbert Paper, Ritz Carlton, Krueck & Sexton, and the ArchiCenter Chicago.
Since 2006, his design practice ROEGERDESIGN has worked on projects involving web design and development, motion graphics, exhibition design, and print.
Oliver has been researching generative AI since 2022. His films and motion experiments aim not to mimic the past but to reveal new visual languages. His AI-generated short films and motion designs (published under the name Erik Gen) have received numerous international awards, including winning entries for the AI International Film Festival, the AI Design Award, the Burano Artificial Intelligence Film Festival, and twice the AI Film Awards. His work has been screened and exhibited in Cannes, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Los Angeles, Miami, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Seoul, and Tokyo.
