On November 30, Associate Professor Jonathan Mekinda will participate in a panel conversation with Mat Rappaport, the director of the documentary Touristic Intents, and Associate Professor Sara Hall (UIC) addressing the question: Can a building be guilty?
Centered on the never-completed Nazi resort of Prora, a four-mile-long building made to house twenty thousand vacationing Germans, the film Touristic Intents grapples with notions of place and identity in an era when the role of national monuments has become a defining issue of cultural memory.
