Don Bergh

Don Bergh serves as the Senior Associate Director of the Innovation Center. He oversees the User Experience Labs, develops new educational offerings, and works with the executive director on partner development, college collaborations, and other strategy-related initiatives. Don has a BA in Design from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, attended the Yale program in Brissago, Switzerland, and was a Graham Foundation Design Fellow at the Walker Art Center, in Minneapolis.

Before joining UIC, Don was a founder of Iota Partners, a research and development firm that combined experience-based research with sensor technologies and analytics. He was previously design director of the McKinsey Quarterly; design director at E-Lab; and design/publications director at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Don is the co-author of Collaborative Innovation Across Industry, Academy and Functional Boundaries: How Companies Innovate with Interdisciplinary Faculty and Student Teams, in collaboration with fellow UIC faculty members. His work has received an Associate’s Exhibition Award and the Champion International Award and has been published by the American Center for Design, AIGA, and the American Federation of the Arts, among other organizations.
