Visiting Designers
The School of Design seeks to maintain and express a shared vision and at the same time to cultivate a faculty that represents a diverse range of critical voices, research interests, and professional pursuits. Visiting faculty members are invited for their professional profile and are sourced from the Chicago design community to enhance and vary our curricular offerings.

Eric Von Haynes is an artist, designer, and curator whose work synthesizes old and new printing methods and aesthetics. With a focus on the role of design in placemaking, Eric is teaching a combined studio of first and second year MDes graphic design students.
Lisa Armstrong is a designer who focuses on time, space, motion, and the queering of media. She joins the UIC Design faculty with a focus on contemporary practices in design and digital media. This semesters Lisa is teaching the entry level Digital Media I for BS in Computer Science + Design students as well as a section of Digital Media II.
Latrina Lee is a designer, researcher and strategiest with an interest in the role of design in healthcare. She joins UIC a with a research appointment in the Institute of Healthcare Delivery Design and a faculty role in the School of Design. Latrina is co-teaching Design Thinking & Leadership with Marcia Lausen, this year-long undergraduate capstone course is working with the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State to design a visual identity system and improve customer experience for the Illinois Driver and Vehicle Services (DMV).
J. Dakota Brown writes on design, labor, and the history of capitalism. His teaching skills and design interests span the full range of our degree programs. This semester Dakota is teaching both undergraduate and graduate seminar courses as well as an advanced typography studio for BDes Graphic Designers.
