A designer and artist, Sung Jang explores the interplay between the two disciplines, resulting in creations that blur boundaries and fits seamlessly into both. Working as an industrial designer, he strives to identify and solve design problems that improve quality of life; as an artist, his work is a unique expression of vision, perspective, and ideas.
Sung has designed for clients including Louis Vuitton, Artemide, Samsung, McDonald’s, and Roche Bobois. His work has been exhibited in and recognized by the Art Institute of Chicago; Victoria and Albert Museum, in London; Chamber and Armory Show, in New York; and Design Miami. He has received a number of awards, including the Good Design Award and the Nuremberg Toy Award.
In addition to his roles at UIC, Sung co-founded Article, a Chicago-based industrial design studio. He currently produces work through his independent design studio, Sung Jang.
